So I sat with my only remaining grandparent today for about 4 hours and we dug through old family photos from 1985 to mid-1990 before I had to head to a previously scheduled engagement. We sorted them out to pick out our family from the other 3 families involved in the immediate relation of my grandmother (her other 3 sons) and started making a photo album for the Steve Wilkes clan. We had to stop at 1990 today, but will continue on to as close to present day as exists when we return from Hawaii next week. 

This now puts in my collection these from 1985-1990 as well as the wealth of photos I have from 1968-1975 from the Egly clan that I stumbled across. I also am very close to having my hands on some digitally scanned 8mm video footage from 1956-1978 from the Don Wilkes (grandfather) era and am pursuing going after converting my family’s (Steve Wilkes) collection of DVC/8mm Cassettes which are damned impossible to figure out how to play these days. 

That all topped with more from my grandmother’s collection will create quite the immediate family history which I am quickly trying to put together to show my mother as we enter the ‘get your affairs in order’ phase of this end-of-life experience. I will share a few of my findings with her tomorrow for Mother’s Day. 

Anyways, sharing this one I found of dad, mom, amy, and myself from July 8th, 1991: my dad’s 41st birthday.
